With over 30 years working experience, starting in Audit and Tax with the worldwide firm of Arthur Andersen & Co (now KPMG) in 1984 before moving to the banking industry via Nigeria-American Merchant Bank Limited (then Bank of Boston) in 1989, Fidelity Union Merchant Limited (now Fidelity Bank Plc.) in 1993, followed by a brief stint at Citizens International Bank as Executive Director in 2001 before returning to Fidelity Bank Plc. as Executive Director in 2006 covering Shared Services (Operations, Information Technology, Human Resources and Corporate Services) and then Treasury Management, Commercial and Consumer banking in Lagos and the Southwest. After over two decades in all core functions in banking, he retired in December 2015.
Before founding Cumbrian Consult in early 2016, he held a number of Board positions, at Fidelity Bank 2006-2015 and Financial Institutions Training Centre 2012-2014 where he chaired the Audit committee and served as a member of the Nominations committee.
He currently serves on the Board of a few private institutions as an independent Non-executive Director and more recently, he was nominated by the Institute of Directors Center for Corporate Governance, trained and fully Certified as a Business Integrity Trainer and Consultant within the African Business Integrity Network courtesy of CIPE (Center for International Private Enterprise) and IoDCCG (Institute of Directors Center for Corporate Governance). He has the Certificate in Anti-corruption compliance and mitigation. He has also recently been trained and certified as an Independent Compliance Assessor by CIPE as part of the ETHICS 1st community. He has recently obtained a certificate of completion for an IACA course Corporate Liability for Corruption.
At Cumbrian Consult, he has carried out several training programs and assignments in Finance, Compliance and Risk Management, Independent assessment of Audit functions, Retirement planning, Budgeting, Corporate Governance, Board Evaluations, Business ethics and Integrity, Performance improvement, HR and Strategy amongst others.

IK holds undergraduate and post graduate degrees in Economics and Development Economics respectively. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Honorary Senior member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers, member of the Equipment Leasing Association of Nigeria, member of the Institute of Directors and a member of the African Business Integrity network (ABIN).
He is a certified (IFC/FITC) Board Leadership and Corporate Governance trainer and has also benefited from executive programs at the Lagos Business School, Harvard Business School, Oxford University, Kellogg Business School and Euromoney amongst others. Read more
